Please join us in welcoming back WPSL Head Coach George Hales for the upcoming 2025 season!

George currently serves as the Women’s Director and Futsal Director at Arlington, in addition to supporting the Coach Education and Club Development programs. As the head coach of the WPSL team, he led the team to a division championship with an undefeated season and a top 10 national ranking, during which five players received all-conference honors, and Hales was acknowledged as Coach of the Year. Previously, he spent six years with the Washington Spirit (NWSL), where he held various positions including Assistant Technical Director, Reserves Assistant, and Head Coach of the Reserves. Furthermore, Hales has acted as Academy Director for both US Soccer Development Academy and Girls Academy clubs in the DMV area achieving an impressive 85% college placement rate for players aspiring to compete at the collegiate level. His coaching experience extends across all youth age groups and multiple leagues including ECNL, high school (both private and public), college club teams, and futsal teams. Throughout his over 20 years in coaching, numerous players have progressed to play at collegiate levels, professionally, or for their respective national teams in soccer and futsal.

In recent years, Hales has successfully guided over 18 players from his programs into professional soccer within the USA (NWSL & USL Super League) as well as European and Central American professional teams. Additionally, more than 10 players he has coached have been invited to participate in USA Futsal Women’s National Team camps over the past two years.

Hales is recognized for his tactical expertise and leadership in both coach and player development. He takes pride in assisting players in uncovering advanced aspects of their game while serving as a trusted resource that extends beyond their time on the pitch under his guidance. George holds a USC Premier Diploma, USC Futsal License, USSF A License, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
